Kiting with Petar and Dean ist the BEST you can do! Kiting with Petar and Dean is the BEST!

Always a very relaxed and top organized thing! It's just always great fun with them! They are honest, fun and always concerned about the well-being of everyone. You feel completely comfortable and in good hands. They organized the hotels and the kite equipment in Croatia and Vietnam including bus transfer. Everything was well organized and worked out reliably. I was very lucky learning to kite with Petar last year and it was super awesome. Petar is super patient, always motivating and positive, and is responsive to the personal learning pace. And he is always very happy when someone did a new step forward. I always felt save and relaxed and it was so great fun learning with Petar. Even if you don't "learn" anymore, both of them giving tips and tricks for riding technique or equipment all the time. Kiting with KiteCamp Istra was great and relaxed. So many things to do in Croatia beside kiting - they know the best places and activities to do!

My husband and I are looking forward to go on an organized kite trip with Dean and Petar as soon as possible or visit them in Istria again – for us they are not kite trainers any more, they become friends.

Vietnam kite camp

I got to know Petar in Greece last summer, taking my first kite lessons. I followed their kite camp to Vietnam and had a great time there. They helped a lot with everything from transportation in Vietnam to finding a good accommodation and organized a trip to Phan Rang for a couple of days kiting there.

Petar is a very relaxed guy never stressing about anything during lessons and has a lot of knowledge and gives a lot of tips to improve your kiting.

He takes his time, not pushing you when you are a beginner and also on a later stage always has some advice what to change and how to improve your riding. Both of them are great riders them self so you can be sure they know what they are talking about and for sure can help you improve your riding, no matter how good you are.

Dean and Petar are two very relaxed guys while hanging out with them after a day of kiting, showing everybody some local restaurants and places, on days where there is no wind offering some wave riding and so on, so you are never bored they will take care of it.

I recommend their kite Camp very much if you want to have a good time learning how to kite or already know how and just improve it. I will for sure go again to another kite camp somewhere in the world with them to go kiting and just have a good time.

Amazing surf experience with Dean & Petar

I was on my solo backpack trip in Vietnam, stayed in Mui Ne for three days. Nothing much to do in town but this surfing experience was certainly a blast and I am so happy that I chose to learn surfing with them.

I had three classes in total, after the first one I was able to ride on small waves with certain help, and for the rest of the classes I was taught to be more independent. I know it might be very much basics but it was a lot of fun! and was a great start of a new sport for me.

I had classes with both Dean and Petar, both of them are very professional and encouraging! I feel safe all the time when surfing with them, and they really gave me confidence to push forward.

I think what makes surfing with them special is that they are actually the people who are really passionate about the things they are doing. They are helping you to engage in this sport and to know more about it, instead of just a come and go tourist activity. Also as it’s running in a relatively small scale, it could give you more of a personal experience. They are close to local surf community, and as they are doing this all around the world, I believe they’ve had much experiences with different conditions. If I would do surf/kitesurf again next time, I’ll definitely choose them! All in all, I highly recommend learning with Dean and Petar, best instructors!

Location

Streets in Mui Ne, Vietnam is famous for its crowded places, typical food markets, hectic streets, and the rules on these streets are a bit different than western tourists may be used to. The village of Mui Ne is a small fishing village on a cape between two famous kite beaches - Malibu and Mui Ne bay (Ham Tien). An A 15km long coastal road runs parallel to the kite beach, passing through Ham Tien and Mui Ne village. On this street, you can find everything you need: markets, restaurants, hotels, hostels, pharmacies, hospitals, souvenir shops, etc.

Mui Ne beach for kitesurfing

Choppy water with shore break, small to big, depending on the day.

The spot where we are stationed at MANA Kite Center (Unique Hotel) is one of the widest parts of the beach in Mui Ne. As a result, you will have plenty of space to take your first lesson with us and feel safe to set up, land and launch your kite without any obstacles around. It's a perfect spot for beginners and advanced riders alike. Choppy water in combination with a shore break can seem a bit challenging in the beginning but passing through your lesson plan step by step guided by your certified IKO instructor means you won't have any problems getting the experience you need to become an independent kitesurfer, riding safely for himself and others on the water.

Wind for kitesurfing

  • 1.5km long sandy beach Side, Side-Onshore wind (NE)
  • Wind strength from 15-30 knots

Malibu beach for kitesurfing

Malibu is a wave spot with nice flat water in between the waves. Waves can vary in size from 0.5m to 3m, depending on the day. The beach at Malibu is wide and sandy, without obstacles, and is also a great place to take your first steps into kiting.

It's also a perfect kite spot for wave riding, freeride and big air. At Malibu, we are stationed in the beautiful Nam Chau resort, at Source Kiteboarding – the Vietnamese home of North Kiteboarding.

Wind for kitesurfing

  • 1 Approximately 1km long sandy beach, Side-Onshore, Onshore wind (NE)
  • Wind strength from 15-30 knots

Phan Rang beach for kitesurfing

The spot is a lagoon with perfect flat water and amazing waves breaking outside the lagoon. To have enough water for safe kiting in the lagoon it is necessary to have a high tide, and for that reason that we wait for a full or new moon to organize the trip to Phan Rang. Perfect spot for beginners, freestyle, wave ride, big air, freeride.

Wind for kitesurfing

  • Situated 150km from Mui Ne with a 1km long coral/sandy beach
  • Side, Side-Onshore wind( NE ), 15 – 40 knots

Side-shore is the safest wind-condition!

Questions & Answers

  • Why Kite Camp with us?

We are passionate about all water sports especially kiteboarding. We are IKO Certified and experienced instructors with a high level of teaching and riding. We would love to share our experience and knowledge with you.

  • What languages are spoken?

We speak English, Italian, French, Portuguese and Croatian.

  • Transfer from airport to Mui Ne?

    Private Car

After a long flight, if you feel like avoiding the complication of taking buses to Ho Chi Minh City bus station and then to Mui Ne, we can arrange a private car for you!

Depending on how many passengers, and your personal needs, we can provide you with the perfect type of car for your transfer. The price for one way journey is between 80-100$, depending on car type. We can offer a normal 5 seater sedan car, a larger 7 seater 4x4, or a minibus with 16 seats. The minibus is the best option if you are coming with your family or friends, or if you are traveling with large luggage or boardbags.

On your way to Mui Ne, you can stop several times to have a break to eat, use bathroom facilities or just enjoy the beautiful scenery for a moment and take some photos! In the end, our driver will take you directly to your accommodation safely and without delay. All of our vehicles are modern and are equipped with AC and comfortable seats.

    Luxury Bus

There is also an option of taking a luxury bus from Ho Chi Minh City to Mui Ne. It is a 16 seater bus which takes you directly from Tan Son Nhat Airport to your accommodation in Mui Ne. It is a more economical option than a private car if you are traveling alone. Price is 15$ one way. You can book it via this link: https://www.vietnambustickets.com/saigon-airport-muine.aspx#mui-ne

Check their online timetable for departure times, but be aware that after you land at Tan son Nhat Airport, it can take approx. 1-2h to exit the airport. If you have chosen the Visa "Fast Track" option it will be faster.

    Sleeping Bus

Sleeping buses depart almost every hour during the day from Ho Chi Minh City center, so it’s convenient to choose a departure time that best works for you. The last departure is around 10:30pm and it takes about 5 hours to travel from HCMC to Mui Ne. Because of the long ride, the bus usually stops at a rest stop where you can have a meal, take a break, or use the restroom. There are two types of bus: sleeper bus and seated bus. Normally the buses are clean, tidy and comfortable. You will get a blanket and a small bottle of water included in the price. AC is usually set at around 20 degrees celsius so it can feel a bit chilly on board. We recommend you take a pair of socks and some long sleeves or pants for the bus in case you are cold.

These buses have two floors and 40 beds. The passengers can rest, sleep, and have room to relax. However, keep in mind that these buses are designed for the Vietnamese, so the length of the bed is around 1.6 meters or 5.2 feet in height. If you are a tall person, you may not be able to stretch out completely. The ticket price is around 7 USD one way.

To get the sleeping bus to Mui Ne from Ho Chi Minh City, first, you will have to reach District 1 where the bus station is. You have two options to do this:

    • take a private Taxi (10-15$) or
    • take the yellow tourist shuttle bus from the airport. Tickets cost around 40,000vnd/1.50$ per person. If you have big board bags, check first if the bus driver will accept them!

To arrive at your accommodation via sleeping bus, just let the driver know the exact name and address of your hotel or guesthouse and he will drop you off right in front of it, or as close as possible!

It is recommended to kite with sunglasses if you have sensitive eyes. We recommend getting one pair with a floating strap.

The air and water are quite warm, we don’t use wetsuits but we use shorties in case of irritated skin from the harness and sand.

5min walking from our kite beach in Mui Ne.

  • Do I need mosquito protection?

There are not many mosquitos but we recommend getting some mosquito protection, for example, "Autan Tropical Repellent".

  • Do I need to rent a motorbike?

The most common method of transportation in Vietnam is the motorbike. Most visitors rent a motorbike, which costs around 5$ per day for an automatic or manual bike with a 110cc-125cc engine. Although it is a fun and easy way to move around, we suggest that you should only rent a motorbike if you have experience, an International Drivers Permit, and are confident to drive in Vietnam. If not, it would be safer to walk around or use a taxi. There is also the possibility of being stopped at a police checkpoint if you do decide to rent a motorbike. But don't worry, if you decide to grab a motorbike to get around we will arm you with some useful tips and tricks to avoid hassle with the police.

  • Where to eat and Party?

There are so many choices in Mui Ne when it comes to street food stalls and restaurants. We know plenty of places which we can recommend to you, depending on your taste and budget, but there are always more delicious spots to discover!

There are lots of tasty, cheap Vietnamese food but also many other choices from other Asian cuisines, and also Western-style food. There are some dedicated vegetarian and vegan places but most restaurants will have vegetarian/vegan offerings on the menu.

Mui Ne is a fishing village so fresh seafood is very common here, Pho (Vietnamese soup) and Banh Mi (Vietnamese sandwich) are must-tries at one of many local places - Sau Sau, where a lovely Vietnamese lady serves you delicious street food and on the side a Vietnamese Cafe Sua Da (Coffee with sweet milk and ice). If you need a break from Vietnamese food, you can grab a Kebab, Burger or a Pizza too, at one of Mui Ne's many Western-style places, no worries about that!

A list of some recommended places

    • Food Court / Dong Vui – Serving all types of cuisine, including vegetarian, Indian, Italian, Vietnamese, Spanish, and a full bar serving craft beers and cocktails.
    • Bia Hoi – A local place, famous for crocodile meat served in a delicious white sauce, where you get your own BBQ and grill on the table. The ultimate BBQ experience with amazing local food. For carnivores only!
    • Tropic Hostel – Serving Serbian cuisine, including amazing burgers with home-made buns (Pljeskavica) and all kinds of different Balkan specialities
    • Sau Sau – street food
    • LuBu – Vietnamese cafe with a nice relaxed ambience, perfect for breakfast and first morning coffees

Exuding a relaxed ambience, these establishments feature charming interiors, friendly service, and not forgetting lots of booze and food at affordable prices – a perfect combination for a fun night out with locals and fellow surfers. Most of Phan Thiet and Mui Ne’s most popular nightlife spots are also great for catching vibrant parties, cultural nights, movie screenings, bonfires, dance performances, and guest DJs from all across Vietnam and many other foreign countries.
